Our client is an internationally leading telecom solutions provider with a strong presence in Europe and Germany. The company has a network of R&D facilities in Europe and is now expanding with an European Smart Manufacturing Facility located one hours drive southwest of Munich. This facility will develop and validate state of the art manufacturing technologies and processes for introduction in the existing production sites in Asia and Europe. The facility is part of the overall production organization of our client.


For the European Smart Manufacturing Facility, we are now looking for a

Strategic Production Architect (Senior Level) (m/f)

Tasks and responsibilities:

On an overall level you, as an advisor to the executive management, actively support our client to set-up its first Smart Manufacturing Team in Europe as part of a strategic program. You analyze value streams in the production sites and enhance with use of newest technologies. In co-operation with 3rd parties you customize available solution platforms and implement them in the available infrastructure to realize future manufacturing concepts. Your scope of activities also cover the following:

  • New production concepts in the epoch of digital transition and I4.0 (smart data/ traceability/ IT platforms)
  • Productivity improvement concepts, running production sites using alternative and disruptive approaches
  • Development of roadmap(s) for future smart manufacturing incl. implementation strategy for both mass production sites and our local R&D shop floor (like a sandbox)
  • Align manufacturing strategies towards the roadmaps from corporate departments for Industrial Engineering and Automation.
  • Co-operation with external consultants and R&D institutes to secure highest level of innovation
  • Requirement definitions for 3rd party IT solutions and smart aids (VR/ Smart Glasses/ RFID…)/ survey market/ select products/ manage implementation


Required skills and experience:

  • Visionary mindset and strong personnel drive towards future manufacturing technologies
  • 10+ years of experience in production planning (partially as project/ program manager on site/ corporate level)
  • Significant contribution optimization projects (automotive/ large scale logistics/ electronics mass manufacturing)
  • Deep insights of available IT platforms for all levels/ strong experience in working with complex architectures
  • Capability to identify gaps, develop solutions and define standards (strong target focused workstyle)
  • University degree in relevant domains for Production Planning / Industrial Engineering (PhD welcome)
  • Leadership personality with highest level of communication skills
  • Proven expertise to work in intercultural teams (ideally for Asian companies)
  • English fluent,
  • German at least level B2
